The herb contains chrysoplenol D, a substance with anti-histamine and muscle relaxant properties which is attributed to its many uses in lung related problems; bronchitis, pharyngitis, and emphysema. Many doctors prescribe lagundi in alleviating exacerbation in asthma. It is believed that lagundi lessens the strength of asthma attacks through its inhibition of the body’s production of leukotrienes during the asthma episode.
